    PRODUCT SAFETY COMPLIANCE

When dealing with the question of Product Safety Compliance - you have some choices to make. You can choose one of the following safety marks when marketing your product in the US and Canada - each is a widely known NRTL (Nationally Recognized Test Lab) and accepted by major retailers:

    • UL - For products marketed in the USA - label provided by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.
    • CUL - For products marketed in Canada - label provided by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.
    • CSA - For products marketed in Canada - label provided by Canadian Standards
    • CSA-US - For products marketed in USA - label provided by Canadian Standards
    • ETL - For products marketed in the USA - label provided by Intertek Testing Services (ITS)
    • CETL - For products marketed in the Canada - label provided by Intertek Testing Services (ITS)

When the product is evaluated for the US Market, the UL Standard is used for the evaluation. When the product is evaluated for the Canadian market, the CSA Standard is used by the above companies.

We can help you obtain Safety Certification for all of the above "labels" and our process is the same for each.

    • TESTING SERVICES

We can test a product prior to submitting it to UL. During your product development stage, you may find a need to perform a temperature test or some other test prior to submitting the product to UL.

Sometimes you may find that you submitted a product to UL and failures resulted during your project. Before opening another project with UL, you may want to confirm your modifications comply with UL’s requirements.

Our independent pretest results can provide you with this valuable information.

Or if UL has a backlog – think about subcontracting tests to us. We can perform the UL test and have it witnessed by a local UL representative.

Let us know what you need…. We can help.

    • FULL REPRESENTATION OF PRODUCT TO UL/CSA/CUL

We can handle your product submittal from beginning to end. Under this service, we represent your company and product to UL on your behalf. We perform construction reviews or work with UL during their review and answer all outstanding issues. If modifications are needed before testing can start, we will outline all details to you so rework if needed can be accomplished quickly.

After the product construction review is completed, we can begin testing. Usually a pretest is performed, and if acceptable, we repeat the test with the local UL representative. Upon test completion, the UL engineer reviews the product sample with the test data and products an authorization letter allowing the manufacturer to label the product and begin production. An official report is provided to the client.,

Send your product information to us…we will give you a cost quote for the submittal of your product.

    • PRELIMINARY CONSTRUCTION REVIEWS

Some manufacturers need answers during the design / product development stage. This can help reduce / eliminate tooling changes – which are timely and expensive . We can review your mechanical engineering drawings to determine if your product is in compliance. At this time, we will provide you with recommended changes. We can work closely with your engineering staff during the design stage.

Let us know if you are working on a new design …

    • VARIATION NOTICES

After the report is released, the UL - IPI inspection is performed at the factory. At this time, you may find that your production is on hold due to a discrepancy between the production and the UL descriptive report. Send the VN copy to us for quick resolution and production release.

    • FIELD COMPLAINTS

Sometimes UL finds a product in the field that is not in compliance with their requirements. If the product bears the Listing Mark, they will require that you take action either through PRODUCT RECALL, PUBLIC NOTICE or some other method. We can work with your staff to help resolve the matter by issuing a news release or resolve the discrepancies with UL some other way…

    • CUSTOMS SEIZURE

Let us know if you have production from china that has been seized by customs for counterfeit questions. We can help find out if the product is authorized and can be released.

    • MARKING LABELS

UL HOLOGRAPHIC LABELS (production from china) – If you manufacture product in china that has been categorized / listed under the following product categories, you will need to purchase the special UL holographic labels from the Label Printer. They are the only printer authorized to print these labels

If you need holographic labels – let us handle the order for you. We’ll ensure your labels are ordered and sent to china UL office in time for your production. Lead time is usually 2-3 weeks.
